Ultra-rare Gold Sovereign from Australia Leads Auction World Sale

An ultra-rare prototype gold coin from Australia is among hundreds of coins from around the world certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) offered in an upcoming Auction World sale. Online bidding is already underway for The 33rd Auction, which will be held July 15-16, 2023.
The top lot in the sale is an 1856 Australia Gold Sovereign Plain Edge Pattern graded NGC PF 62 Ultra Cameo (lot 1005), with a starting price of JPY 15,000,000 (about $106,800). In the mid-1800s, Australian colonies produced gold coins at the Sydney Mint, with this example being part of a unique coinage that did not include silver coins. This particular coin is believed to be one of only three surviving Australian Flower and Dream gold coins that are known to exist, making it incredibly rare.

- a Roman Empire Carinus, AD 283-285 Gold Aureus graded NGC Ancients Ch AU, 5/5 Strike and 3/5 Surface (lot 2079), with a starting price of JPY 1,800,000 (about $12,800)
- a Hungary 1790A Silver Taler graded NGC MS 63 (lot 4033), with a starting price of JPY 1,800,000 (about $12,800)
- an Austria 1908 Gold 100 Corona graded NGC PF 63 (lot 4048), with a starting price of JPY 1,500,000 (about $10,700)
