Large Swiss Coin Among NGC-certified Rarities in Auction World Sale

Posted on 10/04/2023

The April auction features seldom-seen NGC-certified coins, including ones from the ancient world and Renaissance Europe.

An incredibly rare Swiss coin is among hundreds of ancient and world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) that are being offered in an upcoming sale. Bidding is already underway for Auction World’s 32th Auction, which will be held April 16, 2023.

In the spotlight is a Switzerland 1501 Bern 10 Ducat graded NGC AU Details (lot 3538), with a starting price of 12,000,000 JPY (about $92,000). The obverse shows St. Vincent, for whom a cathedral in Bern was named at the time this coin was struck. The reverse shows a double-headed eagle over a bear, surrounded by coats of arms. It was among the first large gold coins of Renaissance Europe.
