NGC-certified rarities from Great Britain and China sold for six figures in a Goldberg sale.

Two vintage coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) each realized over $400,000 on June 28, 2022. Over 600 NGC-certified coins from around the world were featured in a Goldberg Auctioneers sale, including stunning examples of a Great Britain 1717 5 Guineas and a China 1904 Tael.

The star of the sale was a Great Britain 1717 5 Guineas with Inverted “D” on Edge graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1376) that realized $432,000. This variety has an inverted letter “D” on the reverse’s edge, and is the finest example of the seven in the NGC Census. This coin features a well-struck portrait of George I, who ruled Great Britain from 1714 to 1727.
