Rediscovered Rarities from the Horace Hird Collection

In September 2021, Spink presented an auction of 52 NGC-certified rarities from the Horace Hird Collection. Experts had believed the collection was sold or gifted prior to his death in 1973, but these exquisite English gold coins were rediscovered by his family. Bidders jumped at the chance to acquire them, some of which represent the only example known in private hands. They realized nearly $4 million, over $70,000 each!
